    FEDERAL MINISTRY OF EDUCATION

    In the operations of IEIs, the Federal Ministry of Education (FME) shall be vested with the responsibilities of the policy formulation, the establishment and operation of IEIs.

    NATIONAL BOARD FOR TECHNICAL EDUCATION (NBTE)
    NBTE shall perform the following roles:

    ACCREDITATION

    1. Accredited all proposed programmes to be run in the institutions
    2. Develop and provide appropriate instruments for the accreditation exercise
    3. Constitute appropriate accreditation panels and carry out accreditation visits to IEIs every two years.
    4. Present report of accreditation to FME

    MONITORING AND EVALUATION

    1. Carry out annual monitoring and evolutions of credited IEI programmes to ensure that activities are carried out in consonant with established guidelines.
    2. Prepare and forward result of Annual Evaluation Report of the IEIs to FME each year.

    JOINT ADMISSIONS AND MATRICULATION BOARD (JAMB)
    The Joint admission and Matriculation Board shall perform the following roles:

    1. Produce Brochure of accredited programmes in licensed IEIs periodically
    2. Sell application forms and brochure to prospective candidates
    3. Coordinate the placement of NID graduate into universities
    4. Conduct UTME for IEI candidates
    5. Place IEI candidates in the institutions
    Maintain a data base of IEI graduates admitted into universities and other tertiary institutions

    Goals

    - Innovation Enterprise Institution are technical institutions offering post-secondary education programmes leading to the award of diplomas/certificates such as the National Diploma of IEIs (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND). The products of these institutions will have entry level employment skills to function as technicians, higher technicians/technologists or professionals, depending on the level of training in their fields of specialization.
